A shipboard career is for those adventurers who are interested in exploring new places and meeting new people, for those who enjoy a diverse and multicultural environment that is dynamic and guest-focused. Life onboard is unique, and you may wonder if this is the right environment for you.

Here’s some information to consider:

Assignments
Assignments are determined by position, and length can vary based on the particular rank. Senior management hotel officers typically have four-month assignments, followed by eight weeks of vacation; marine officer assignments are generally fourteen weeks onboard followed by fourteen weeks vacation for senior positions, and seven weeks for more entry-level roles; assignments for all other positions average approximately six or eight months working onboard, depending on the role (or ten months, for laundry positions), with six to eight weeks of vacation time.

Accommodations
Since space is at a premium, all cabins are designed to maximize efficiency, and depending on your role onboard, you may share a cabin with one or more teammates. Working and living in close proximity with your colleagues will take some adjusting, especially in the first six to eight weeks. However, this is an excellent opportunity to develop strong friendships with fun and interesting people from all over the world.

Work Environment
With an average of more than 2,000 guests, each ship offers a great opportunity to contribute to the success of a world-class operation, while enriching your own experience. Though it can be very rewarding, it can also be challenging, and it will probably take some time to adjust to the pace of it all. Because it’s a 24-hour operation, you can expect to work long hours, seven days a week. Time off is limited, even while the ship is in port; however, you will still have opportunities to explore different destinations.

Safety Onboard
In order to ensure that everyone is familiar with safety procedures (in the case of an emergency), you will be expected to participate in relevant training sessions and drills that occur on a regular basis.
